Uses

P-hydroxyacetophenone itself is a choleretic drug, often used as an auxiliary drug for the treatment of cholecystitis and acute and chronic jaundice hepatitis, but the application must be in accordance with the doctor's advice. In addition, p-hydroxyacetophenone is also a raw material for fine chemical synthesis, and is mostly used in the synthesis of spices.

Production

The production of p-hydroxyacetophenone uses phenol as a raw material, and is obtained by acylation and transposition. Mix phenol and acetyl chloride, slowly heat until no hydrogen chloride is discharged to prepare phenyl acetate, add it to nitrobenzene, add aluminum trichloride after cooling, stir for 2-3 hours, then pour into cold water, add 1: 3 hydrochloric acid until it is cool, extract with ether, distill the ether from the extract, distill nitrobenzene and the by-product o-hydroxyacetophenone by steam distillation, and leave the p-hydroxyacetophenone in the residue. The product is obtained by extraction and recrystallization.

[Industry Chain] Upstream products phenol, acetyl chloride, and p-hydroxyacetophenone. Downstream products: 4-quinoxalinyl-2-phenol, N-acetaminophen, 4-hydroxystyrene, atenolol, 3'-chloromethyl-4'-hydroxyacetophenone, 4-benzyl Oxy-3-nitroacetophenone, p-hydroxyphenethyl alcohol, 1-{4-(acetoxy)-3-[(acetoxy)methyl]phenyl}-2-bromoethanone, 2- (Benzyl-tert-butylamino)-4'-hydroxy-3'-hydroxymethylacetophenone diacetate hydrochloride, 4-acetoxystyrene.

Toxicity and environmental impact

This product is harmful if swallowed, and contact can cause irritation to the eyes, respiratory system and skin. Pay attention to the harmful effects of waste and by-products from the manufacturing process on the environment.

Packaging, storage and transportation

It is packed in a rigid cardboard drum lined with plastic film or kraft paper and stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire, heat and water. It should be stored separately from oxidants and food, and should not be mixed.
